Hanoi Tomodachi House is pleased to bring you a Charity Book Signing event featuring Hoàng Thị Diệu Thuần, the author of the “Như Hoa Hướng Dương” (Like the Sunflowers) and “Muôn ánh mặt trời” (Numerous Rays of Sunlight) books.
Diệu Thuần found out about her condition by accident when visited a friend at the hospital while she was still attending her first year in college. After some initial scans and check-ups, Diệu Thuần was diagnosed with blood cancer. She was only 20 years old. Ever since then, her life has been all about the unyielding struggle fighting between the line of life and death. From an active girl who loved playing guitar and traveling, Diệu Thuần had to adapt to a new bedside life of medication and chemotherapy sessions with agonizing pain. Determined not to give up, she keeps her head up and try to be as positive as possible, try to be patient with all the treatments while not losing hope. In 2012, after 7 years of treatment and a successful bone marrow transplant, Diệu Thuần thought she was finally treated and can finally move on with her life. However, until recently, she has been diagnosed with blood cancer again.
The books are Diệu Thuần’s autobiographies, written in her own voices while reflecting her personal struggle, her view on life and death, her desires and wishes. Writing is also her way of meditation to get through the pain and how she remains optimistic and hopeful during this time.
All the proceeds to this event will go to Hoàng Thị Diệu Thuần’s medical treatment.
